Jerusalem - Millo

The Millo was a Canaanite wall that consisted of terraces, which served as a retaining wall and rampart for the Jebusites in the days of the Judges.

David fortified it when he captured the city of Jebus in 1,000 BC. (2nd Samuel 5:9; 1st Chronicles 11:8) He would change the name of the city to Jerusalem.

Solomon also strengthened it during his reign as king. (1st Kings 9:15; 11:27)

Ongoing excavations in the ancient City of David have uncovered a palatial residence atop the Millo. Many think it is the Palace of David and Solomon, Kings of Israel.
