Timna
Park is located about 20 miles north of Eilat in the desert. The grand feature
of the Park is a life-size replica of the biblical tabernacle. Although no
original materials were used in the construction (e.g., gold, silver, bronze), it
is accurate in every respect, based on the biblical description.

Inside
the Holy of Holies is a beautiful replica of the Ark of the Covenant. During
the orientation, the lid is opened to reveal its contents; two tablets with the
Ten Commandments, the rod of Aaron, and a pot of manna. The Ark was
covered with a lid—the mercy seat—on which the high priest sprinkled blood of
the sacrificial animal seven times on the Day of Atonement.
