The grave of Oskar Schindler is one of the most visited grave sites in Jerusalem. He was credited with saving the lives of nearly 1,200 Jews during World War II.
His grave is in the Mount Zion Catholic Cemetery, and is within easy walking distance from Zion Gate in the Old City.
In 1944, inmates of Plaszow were being prepared for deportation to Auschwitz—certain death. After paying hefty bribes, Schindler got approval to move his factory to Brunnlitz, Czechoslovakia on the pretext of making armaments. The names of the workers chosen to move the new factory formed the "list" made famous in Steven Spielberg's 1993 award-winning movie, Shindler's List.
