This tomb is located in the Kidron Valley between Jerusalem and the Mt. of Olives. Because of its style, it is believed to have been built around the time of Jesus. It is known today as the Pillar of Absolom or Absolum's Monument.

As early as 333 AD, it was referred to as the Tomb of Hezekiah. It was first associated with Absolom by Benjamin of Tudela in 1170 AD because of a reference in 2nd Samuel 18:18.

The name of the person or family for whom the tomb was carved is yet unknown.
