This photo shows a section of the Broad Wall built by King Hezekiah around 721 BC. It was part of his plan to fortify Jerusalem from Sennacherib of Assyrian as well as to protect the many refugees from the nation of Israel who fled there to escape the Assyrian invasion.

The remains of the wall in this photo measure 22 feet wide and about 210 feet long.

Nehemiah spoke of this Broad Wall:

The other thanksgiving choir went the opposite way, and I was behind them with half of the people on the wall, going past the Tower of the Ovens as far as the Broad Wall (Nehemiah 12:38 NKJB).

I made this graphic to show the approximate location of the Broad Wall.
