The Hulda Gates, mentioned in both the Bible and the Mishna, were actually five gates that led to the Temple Mount from the South  They consisted of two large gates [west] and three smaller gates [east], and provided access to tunnels, which were the main entry for the common people to enter the Temple Mount. 

In the photos above, you can easily see the "Triple Gates." Only the lintel of the right side of the "Double Gate" is visible today. 

The photo below was taken from the Mount of Olives. It provides orientation as to where these gates were located. There is little doubt that Jesus and the Disciples entered the Temple Mount through these gates!

The gates were approached by means of a broad staircase, most of which has been reconstructed.
