The Israel National Museum was founded in 1965 on a 20 acre parcel near the Knesset [Israel’s Parliament Building]. It boasts nearly a half of a million objects of art, archaeology, and Judaica, which represent the history of the Jewish culture. Over three quarters of a million people visit the museum annually.

Two things of interest that are on the museum’s property [not in the building itself] are The Shrine of the Book, housing the famous Dead Sea Scrolls, and the Second Temple Period Model of Jerusalem, which was moved from the Holyland Hotel and displayed on the museum property in 2006.
