The mud gate at Ashkelon is one of the oldest known arched gates in existence. It is approximately  7 feet wide and 14 feet high. It served as an entrance to this prominent, Philistine port town.

The gate is believed to be about 4,000 years old, which means that it was standing during the time of Abraham. That makes this gate contemporary with the mud gate discovered at Tel Dan.
