Mt. Hermon sits on the border of Israel and Syria. It has two peaks, the highest of which is 9,300+ ft. It is believed by many to be the location of the Transfiguration of Jesus. (See Mt. 17:1-9; Mark 9:2-9; Luke 9:28-37, which speak of a "high mountain")
Joshua's conquests went no farther north than Mt. Hermon and in the Psalms, it is used poetically for its majestic beauty. (See Joshua 11:3, 17; 12:1, 5; Psalm 42:6; 89:12; 133:3; Song 4:8)
Snow run off from Mt. Hermon is the source of the Jordan River, which eventually ends at the Dead Sea.
