The Forum was an oval shaped plaza surrounded by 56 columns, each made from four blocks of stone. The plaza is paved with limestone slabs, each increasing in size from the center. The Forum lies between the Temple of Zeus and the main thoroughfare, the Cardo Maximus. It's easy to see why it was the centre of the social and political life.
