Just inside the Southern entry to Jerash, you come to one of two amphitheaters. This one, the Southern Theater. It was built during the reign of the Emperor Domitian around 90 AD and could seat more than 3,000 spectators. It has remarkable acoustics, which allows a speaker to stand at the center of the orchestra floor and be heard by the entire theater without raising his/her voice.
