Jerusalem - Church of the Holy Sepulcher: The Immovable Ladder

The object that I want you to see is not a “holy object,” it just happens to be located at a “holy site.” Take a look at the ladder underneath the window in the upper center of this photo. That is the “Immovable Ladder,” so called. 

The ladder is made from cedar wood, and has been in that spot on the facade of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher for more than 250 years! The earliest known report about the ladder is from 1757 and it has remained there except on two occasions, both relatively  recently, in 1997 and 2009.
