Jordan - Jerash: The Nymphaenum

Click on photo to enlarge it

One of the more complete buildings in Jerash is the Nymphaenum. It served as the main fountain for the city and was dedicated to the water nymphs. In its day, water would cascade over the facade and into a large pool at the bottom. It must have been an amazing sight. At the foot of the structure you can see a pink granite water base still intact.
