Geshur was a pagan city led by a pagan king, Talmai [in the days of David]. It is evident as you approach the city gate. On the right side, a stone carving was uncovered The image is that of a bull with very large horns that nearly connect at the top.

The horns are formed like that to hold a moon disk. We know in that period of time, the moon, the stars, the constellations, the sun were all worshiped. Moon worship was very popular in Babylon in ancient times and it was also popular in Israel prior to the Hebrews.

There is another well known Old Testament city that was dedicated to a moon god - Jericho [jah - re - ho is the combination of consonants in most Semitic languages, which means, moon].
