Nazareth Village is just a 10-minute walk from the city’s center, and a short distance from the landmark Church of the Annunciation. It’s like stepping back in time. Here you interact with history, religion, and culture to see what it was like to live when Jesus walked on earth. Small-town life, as He lived it, has been authentically recreated.
In the short time you spend on tours that stop at the Nazareth Village, you’ll see hillside farm terraces growing pomegranates, figs, and olives. You’ll encounter shepherds tending flocks of sheep and goats. Just around the corner you can visit a carpenter using ancient tools and a weaver demonstrating her craft.
At certain seasons watch a farmer break ground with a plough yoked with donkeys, or crops being harvested then processed—grapes crushed by foot and wheat threshed with an ancient sifter.
Nazareth Village is a delightful way to encounter first-century life.
