Masada - The Snake Path

Decisions. Decisions. When you get to the base of Masada, you are immediately confronted with a decision: Do I take the ‘Gondola Ride’ to the top, or Do I walk up ‘The Snake Path’. The difference in elevation between the bottom of the path and where it connects to the entry of Masada is 1150 feet. There are about 700 steps along the mile-and-a-quarter long, snakelike path.

When you get to the gate, Masada is revealed in all its splendor; on the right, the storeroom complex that adjoins the Northern Palace; ahead, the Western Palace and the small palaces nearby; and all of this [and MORE] surrounded by the casemate wall, which has been weather beaten through the centuries.
