The Jesus/Gospel Trail

The Jesus and Gospel Trails allow Christian visitors to walk nearly 40 miles in Jesus’ footsteps along the path He possibly took from His home in Nazareth to the center of his ministry in Capernaum.

Though called the Jesus Trail, the appeal is meant to be more broad. Nazareth and the Galilee are important to Christians, who regard the area as the setting of Jesus' boyhood, adult ministry and initial miracles. However, the route includes small Arab villages, ancient Jewish sites, modern kibbutzim, Crusader battlefields and Muslim shrines.

The main part of the trail begins in Nazareth and passes through Tzippori [Sepphoris], Cana, the Horns of Hattin, Mt Arbel Cliffs, the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Tabgha, and the Mt of Beatitudes. An alternate return route passes by Tiberias, the Jordan River, Mt Tabor, and Mt Precipice.

The trail passes through many sights of the New Testament, and it takes approximately 4-5 days to walk the entire distance, if you want to stop and explore along the way. The trail is highlighted with white-orange-white markers along the path.
