Moshav Amnun [Cooperative Settlement of Amnun] was founded in 1983. It was meant for the people evacuated from Sinai when Israel gave Sinai [conquered in the Six Day War] back to Egypt. Amnun is the Hebrew word for Tilapia, a fish in abundance in the nearby Sea of Galilee. Currently, the settlement has a population of a little over 300 people.
